The twins are 11 months old!
We are having many fun interactions with Bailey and Bennett who are just growing up before our very eyes. Bailey is cruising and trying so hard to stand on her own and take steps. Bennett is the fastest army crawler, and his favorite game is "playing catch" with himself. I'm watching him do it right now and it is so hilarious, I had to blog about it. He finds a ball, throws it, then chases after it like a dog. Repeat this a dozen plus times and he is entertained for quite a while, all around the house! More cute antics from the twins coming soon, as well as pictures...stay tuned!

"All Choi's Eve" (aka Halloween!)
October was a busy month, full of fun festivities, including going to the Texas State Fair, Country Critters Farm, the Dallas Arboretum's pumpkin patch, Boo at the Zoo, and of course, "All Choi's Eve." I was so excited and thankful to do all these things with Allison, Bailey, and Bennett because at this time last year, I had been put on bedrest. This was the first year that Allison really had an awareness/understanding of Halloween. She was excited to get her costume and when asked what she was going to be she'd say, "Doctor Allison!" Phil's sister Lisa had sent some adorable skeleton pj's for the twins. Quite appropriate, as she is an orthopedic surgeon! So we decided to get scrubs and a white coat for Allison, and Bailey and Bennett were her first "x-rayed" patients!
On Saturday, we went to our church's Trunk or Treat. Then we went to our neighborhood Halloween carnival at the park a few blocks from our house. Phil pulled all three of them in a wagon...so adorable! On the walk back home, we stopped at a few neighbor's houses to trick-or-treat. Allison loved all of it, especially riding in the wagon and getting treats to put in her doctor's bag. She kept handing us pieces of candy and saying, "Open it!" (which we did not do). After we got home and put her to bed, Phil and I went through her loot and picked out the candy we wanted. Then I dumped the rest of it in the candy bowl to pass out to trick-or-treaters. Shameless, I know! Here are some pictures of the kids in their costumes. Can you believe the babies are TEN months old??!!? I can't!

Where did the summer go?
Ack! We blinked and two months passed before we even knew what happened. That's how fast time seems to be moving, and every day it seems I have a "grief moment" because I can't slow it down. I didn't post the twins' six month pictures and growth stats, and here we are near the end of their 7th month, and I'm not even sure I took that many pictures of them this month!
So putting aside the "mommy guilt," here's a little update on how the family is doing:
Allison--Talking up a storm! Allison is at such a fun age. I love being a mom of a toddler! She is saying some of the funniest things lately, and she is copying EVERYTHING we say. We continue to be amazed watching her acquire and use language and we realize even more what an observant girl she is. Allison loves to sing and now insists on singing songs by herself. "Allisey self!" she says. In fact, she wants to do lots of stuff by herself these days, including drinking out of a "real" cup, coloring on the kitchen floor, and putting on her shoes, which she of course picks out. She also loves to swim and can stay underwater for 10 seconds, thanks to what she learned in swim lessons this summer! Preschool starts for Allison next week and she has the most wonderful teacher this year, Ms. Wixson. I also found out that our church has a 2-year-old Sunday school class. I can't explain the immense sadness I felt when I heard this, but other moms can probably relate...it's just a reminder that my little girl is not a baby anymore (although Phil says she will always be our baby). It's another stage, another milestone--she will no longer be in the nursery at church, but she'll be in a Sunday school class!! Of course I am overjoyed she will be learning more about Jesus, but I am just not taking this growing up thing very well. Lord, help me!--I am going to be a wreck when she starts kindergarten!
Bailey--She is my squirmy wormy! Always on the move, she figured out how to crawl last week. I simply canNOT believe that the twins are almost 8 months old. Bailey has had the earliest mastery of gross motor skills of our three kiddos. She was rolling around at 4 months and has always preferred to be on her tummy (which Allison absolutely hated). She probably would have been sitting up at 6 months, but I just didn't have the time to work with her on it. So when Phil's sister Lisa came to visit at the beginning of August, she always had Bailey practicing sitting up, and lo and behold, at the end of the visit, Bailey was sitting up unassisted! Bailey is also quite the talker. Her first "word" was "ma-ma-ma-ma-MA!" but now she is able to vocalize the "d" sound and we hear her softly practicing her "da-da-da-da" in her crib. Bailey's giggles are absolutely pure sunshine. When she laughs out loud, you want to laugh with her! She has the funniest smile which show off her two big bottom teeth. Both babies are terribly ticklish and my favorite thing when I have them one-on-one is to tickle them to get a good belly laugh out of them! Bailey finally started accepting baby food, but she still eats like a bird and prefers her bottles. Her favorites so far are carrots, squash, green beans, and peas. Not a fan of rice cereal or oatmeal and ambivalent about fruits.
Bennett--LOVES to eat (no surprise there!) It doesn't matter what I put on that spoon, he opens his mouth wide and fusses if I don't feed him fast enough. Bennett is my sweetie pie little boy. I just love snuggling with him! When he sees me, his eyes get all big and he opens his mouth in this huge grin. I feel like the most important person in the world. He, too, has the most delicious giggles and smiles that I "eat up" and he thinks that is hilarious. Bennett can sit up for a few seconds at a time, but he prefers to be on his tummy reaching for toys or rolling around the room. He is usually a MUCH better napper than Bailey and still takes a paci which helps him fall asleep very quickly. If he is cranky, I know it's because he wants to sleep. He was doing so well sleeping through the night and then all of a sudden he regressed and started waking up at least once. So I never know from night to night if he will wake up or not. Bailey has not gotten the memo that normal people do not wake up in the middle of the night. She's become nap-resistant and doesn't appreciate my attempts at "sleep training" (although lately I have been prevailing more and she is finally taking two naps). Bennett is fascinated with his hands and loves turning his wrists this way and that to see all angles of his fingers. He also likes to put his fingers in his mouth. It is so sweet to watch the twins interact...when they are next to each other, they are always reaching for the other's hand. Either that or rolling on top of each other and taking toys from the other, which is pretty comical. I love being a mom of twins!!
Phil--Medical school. Enough said.
Esther--Hardly have a spare second between working part-time and taking care of & playing with my babes. When I'm not doing that, I'm washing bottles, pumping, doing laundry or dishes, picking up toys, cleaning the house, sorting clothes, trying to nap/eat/shower (in that order), and trying to stay connected with friends and family. Oh, and of course, trying not to miss any second of this wonderful adventure called parenting. Did I mention that I absolutely LOVE being a mom?
Sorry I didn't include any cute pictures in this post. Maybe when our life slows down we can put up more pictures and videos. (Ha!)

Birthday = Cake
My dear precious Allison,
I cannot believe that you turned two today. I am sure I will be starting each birthday post with that first sentence. It seems we blinked and you turned into a little girl, no longer the baby we wanted you to stay! This morning, Daddy and I came into your room singing "Happy Birthday." When we asked how old you were, you said, "Cake." A girl after my own heart...birthdays are definitely about cake! We had your "Storytime Picnic" birthday party at Bicentennial Park this morning. It was perfect because we included all your favorite activities: storytime (led by your Auntie Michelle), playing on the playground, and swimming in the wading pool! At your party, all of your guests got to decorate their own cupcakes. You enjoyed putting gummy bears, teddy grahams, and a gummy frog on your cupcake. And boy did you savor it when you got to eat it after lunch! You first ate all the candy, licked off the frosting, then finished off each tasty morsel of cake.
Then this evening, we had a family celebration at a Korean restaurant that serves cold noodles (neng myun). Aunt Sarah and Uncle Jun brought another CAKE! You sang with us when we sang "Happy Birthday" to you, then you blew out your candles with gusto! You chose the elephant and frog candles for your cake, and of course, you got your second piece of cake for the day. Birthdays are fun, aren't they? Mommy kind of makes a big deal out of them because I want you, Bailey, and Bennett to grow up knowing how special you are and how immeasurably blessed we are because of you.
There is so much I want to say to you and so much I want to record about what you are doing these days. But alas, Mommy's tired and has to sign off. Oh, I will have to say that you're developing quite a shoe addiction. Aunt Sarah gave you shoes for your birthday, and when you saw the boxes, you said "Shoes!" and sat down to take off your shoes to try on your new ones. We were pretty floored that you knew what they were before you had even opened the boxes. Your Harmony would be proud!
I will try to post more pictures of your party soon and maybe post a few more heart-felt words about the joy I feel being your Mommy. But for now, know that I love you dearly, more than words could ever express!
Love,
Mama

Easter Weekend
I cannot believe another month has passed. As you can tell from the sore lack of updates this last month, we've been quite busy! So little time to take pictures and post them on the blog, but I want to be better because this might be the only scrapbook of memories I have of them!
Bailey and Bennett were baptized on Easter and Phil's mom came in town for the occasion. We had a fun weekend...On Friday, we went to the Dallas Arboretum, and Allison had a blast rolling down the grassy hills. On Saturday, I attempted "bluebonnet pictures." You can see the funny results below! We also tried to go to an Easter egg hunt but it was over by the time we got there. After church on Easter Sunday the whole family came over to our house for lunch.
I started back to work the week of Easter, so life is going even faster than before. I hardly have a spare second. I really should chronicle what my typical day is like. I don't know how I do it but by the grace of God!
The twins are FOUR MONTHS old...how can that be??? I'll try to post their four month pics soon, but for now, here are the pictures from Easter weekend. Both babies are smiling up a storm, although I have yet to capture those elusive grins on camera. They are also cooing and Bailey especially loves to "talk." Both are still GREAT sleepers, although they are still waking once at night to eat. We are enjoying them so much!

BLUEBONNETS!!
We missed the Easter egg hunt at our neighborhood park so we had a picnic and played on the playground instead!

Three...
...the number of months that we have already enjoyed with our precious twins Bailey and Bennett (can't believe it!!)

Here they are having tummy time:

...the number of children we have!

...the number of minutes I have to update the blog before I have to play with Allison on the slide (her favorite), read her a book (also a great favorite activity), or feed babies!

A fun picture of Allison in her firefighter raincoat and boots, playing in the rain:
